Pros and Cons of Bucket Crushers
On-site crushing saves dollars right off the bat with trucking, disposing, and purchasing back materials. However, with many options out there it is hard to find the right crushing solution.
Crusher buckets, mini crushers, compact crushers, mobile crushing plants, semi-mobile chassis plants. There is the right tool for every application and for every contractor.
How much material do you need to process? How fast do you need to process your materials? Similar to excavators there are numerous classes of crushers available. Typicall capacities range from as low as 20 TPH up to 500 TPH and more.
What materials do you need to process? What is the feed size, abrasiveness and hardness of your materials? In many cases contractors need to crush a mix of materials any you want to account for all of your materials.
For all materials you put into your machine you need to be clear as to what should come out of the machine. If you can't use your materials you have not achieved anything.
Crusher attachments for excavators (also called bucket crushers) are jaw-type crusher that are mounted in lieu of a conventional digging shovel. Bucket crushers are a cost effective solution for smaller volumes if you don't need a spec material. The biggest flex of bucket crushers is its mobility. Mounted to the excvator it doesn't require any additional permitting compared to other crushers.
Mini crushers are track or skid-mounted crushers for smaller material volumes with more options (e.g. such as magnets to seggregate rebar) to achive better finsihed products. Similar to bucket crusher those are typically jaw type crushers for non-spec material. Capactities range from 20-50 TPH. Due to small hopper volume this type crusher is best fed with compact feed equipment such as CTLs or mini excavators.
This category of crushers has seen a strong growth over the past years because of its mix between performance, mobility and versatility with capacity ranging from 70-400 TPH. This type is available as jaw crusher and impact crusher. Impact crusher type compact crushers have the advantage of producing both - a screened spec material in a single pass or a non-spec material. Thus, Compact Impact Crushers have the widest application range.
